Alex Kelly has had plenty of luck in the past five years. The singer-songwriter, who originates from New York City, didnʻt expect to grow into a musical career that has allowed her to play all over the city with features on numerous outlets such as Z100 New Radio and Carma Dee TV.
In 2007, Kelly was approached by Robby Takac (Goo Goo Dolls) with a new project he was working on, Amungus. The following year, the band released their debut EP, The truth is…, which was featured on NPR and KISS 98.5 in New York City. After three years, Kelly gained a wealth of valuable experience, both as lead vocalist and co-writer for the bandʻs EP. At that point, she felt that she was ready to pursue a solo project of her own.
“Orange Circle”, the first single from Kellyʻs debut album of the same name, showcases the singer-songwriterʻs aptitude for electro-pop that incorporates steady vocals that are typical of its genre. The song is a smart introduction to the rest of the album, as she holds tight to the theme of high energy dance beats. Kelly collaborates with Kelsey Warren (pILLOW tHEORY) — who also performs with her during live shows — throughout the dance-pop album.
Kellyʻs first single can be streamed here. Orange Circle, the debut album, will be featured as part of Kellyʻs album release party at The Bowery Electric in New York City on June 25. To find out more details about Alex Kelly, visit her website.
